How to Get Involved
The Thomas Worthington Theatre Program produces seven plays every year -- three extra-curricular shows and four co-curricular shows. There are also multiple scene nights, each consisting of student-chosen and student-directed acts. There is a place for everyone in theatre, whether you enjoy being in the spotlight, dancing in the ensemble, working the lights and sound, designing the costumes or any other of the multitude of roles!
Whether you have never seen a play in your life, or you are the biggest theatre nerd; whether you are fresh out of middle school, or graduating in a few months,
We want you here!
It's never too late to join the program. We are so eager to welcome you!

Classes
Theatre Survey - Learn about the art of theatre, and learn skills you will need to know in order to be in co-curricular plays. The prerequisite to Theatre Repertory.
Theatre Repertory - You must be enrolled in this class to perform in co-curricular plays. Many of the rehearsals happen during Theatre Repertory, as well as after school. Theatre Survey is the prerequisite to Theatre Repertory.
Theatre Technology, Design and Production - Learn about all the aspects of theatre beyond acting. A great class for anyone interested in being a tech or design lead, stage manager or student director. There is no prerequisite to the class.
After School Theatre Technology - Pop into After School Tech -- with no commitment -- whenever you can! There is no prerequisite to this class.
Contact your guidance counselor to enroll in any of these classes, if you are not enrolled already.
Extra-curricular Shows
There are three extra-curricular shows every year. You do not need to be enrolled in any daytime classes in order to perform in these shows. All of the rehearsals happen after school.
One Act - As the title suggests, it is a shorter play consisting of only one act. It is student-directed and the rehearsals and performances are in the Fall.
Mainstage Musical - We do a musical in the auditorium every Winter.
Children's Show - It is a student-directed kid-friendly show performed in the Spring for elementary students as well as the general public.
If you are interested in auditioning for the One Act, email the director, Mrs. J - jsomerville@wscloud.org. Information about other auditions is typically posted in the Full Theatre GroupMe when the time comes.

Tech/Crew
There are many backstage jobs in theatre, which include costuming, lighting, sound and others. Such jobs are open to any students interested. Opportunities to do theatre tech will be posted in the Full Theatre GroupMe.
If you are interested in crew or have any questions regarding the topic, email the director, Mrs. J - jsomerville@wscloud.org.
Scene Nights
In addition to plays, the theatre program also has scene nights, which are shows comprised of student-chosen and student-directed scenes, songs and other acts. Anyone can audition to be in scene nights. More information about auditions is typically posted in the Full Theatre GroupMe.
Freshman Senior Showcase - Freshmen are put into groups with seniors, each to rehearse and perform a scene together. It is a great opportunity for freshmen to dip their toes in the theatre program and to get to know some of the upperclassmen. It takes place in early Fall.
Winter Cabaret - A fundraiser for the theatre program. In addition to performances, there are games, raffles and other fun activities to raise funds. Cabaret takes place before Winter Break.
Miscast - Students perform scenes and songs they would likely not get a chance to perform in high school. Miscast typically takes place in the winter.
Final Scene Night - The final scene night and final theatre event of the year. Students bid the graduating theatre kids farewell.

Improv Club
We meet once a week after school to play fun theatre games and improvisational games. Whether you are completely new to theatre and improv or have been doing it for years, Improv Club is a great opportunity to grow your skills in a supportive and low-stakes environment.
Updates about upcoming club meetings will be in the Improv Club GroupMe. Email the director, Mrs. J - jsomerville@wscloud.org to join the GroupMe.
